Year-round performance programming offers up close encounters with great music in atmospheric Midcoast venues.
We welcome you to our concerts and strive to create a warm and inclusive space to share in the experience of live music. Come as you are (wear whatever makes you feel comfortable!) and clap whenever you feel inspired! Accessibility is at the core of our mission and our tiered ticket pricing structure and “pay what you wish” option for people 21 and under are a testament to this organizational priority. SUMMER SERIES
Concerts by acclaimed artists and ensembles playing cherished repertoire as well as adventurous new musical experiences and free community events. Thursday evenings in the Rockport Opera House offer traditional concert presentations, Friday evenings in Union Hall, Rockport are café concerts with wine, bold program choices, and an interactive presentation style. The series includes additional performances in Machias, North Haven and Vinalhaven.
Our summer festival, third week of August, is a five-day musical gathering along one of the most scenic coastlines in the world. It features multiple performances each day by world-renowned musicians, presented at our specially adapted festival tent in the relaxed setting of Camden Library Amphitheatre. Screen Door offers vibrant variety; while you can hear remarkable performances of standard repertoire, you can also experience world premieres, one-of-a-kind creative happenings, free concerts on Camden Village Green, and a thoroughly welcoming, convivial atmosphere. Last year’s festival featured 50 artists in 24 concerts presenting unexpected collaborations, illuminating talks, revealing conversations from the stage, and a memorable musical journey for the almost 2000 audience members who attended.
SCREEN DOOR FESTIVAL
A program of outstanding and varied concerts with accessible ticket prices, many focusing on families and school students. Evening café concerts feature international and American artists; our annual Holiday Concert and School Matinee shows are joyful celebrations of the diverse musical interests in our community; our Midday Music series brings local people together to enjoy lunch-time concerts performed by Maine musicians. There are also many opportunities to hear emerging talent in Bay Chamber Music School’s free concerts and our annual Young Stars of Maine competition and performance.
