Purposeful gift planning can provide you with a variety of opportunities to make a transformational gift, fulfilling a deeply held and meaningful purpose for Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School while meeting personal financial goals and providing for loved ones.
For many, intentional gift planning can make possible larger gift options than considered probable or even possible. Through careful structuring, gift options can provide a stream of income for life, create greater income than earned from holding onto an asset, or reduce capital gains or estate taxes. Life gift planning is most often coordinated with estate planning and is an accessible option for donors of all income levels.
Ensuring a legacy of world-class music for generations to come
Through the Encore Society, we are pleased to honor benefactors who have arranged a gift provision to benefit Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School as part of their estate planning. Membership in the Encore Society is open to all who have informed Bay Chamber about their estate gift plans.
Ways you can structure a transformational gift are given below. With all financial planning, we advise you to consult your financial planner or attorney to discuss options that best meet your objectives.
Including a charitable bequest in your estate plan is a simple way to make a lasting gift to Bay Chamber while enjoying the assets you need to maintain your current lifestyle. You can arrange a bequest at any age by adding to an existing will or drafting a new one. You may decide on a specific amount (specific bequest), a percentage of your estate (residuary bequest), or make a bequest based on other variables (contingent bequest).
Sample Bequest Language:
• "I bequeath the sum of $AMOUNT to Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School, located in Rockport, ME", or
• "I devise and bequeath 20% of the remainder and residue of property owned at my death, whether real or personal and wherever located, to Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School, located in Rockport, ME."
Charitable Gift Annuity
A charitable gift annuity is an agreement between you and Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School in exchange for a gift of cash or publicly traded securities to which Bay Chamber promises to pay you (and/or a loved one) a guaranteed lifetime income. A charitable gift annuity provides you with immediate tax advantages and gives you the satisfaction of knowing that patrons and students of Bay Chamber will receive high-quality musical performance and education well into the future.
Charitable Remainder and Other Trusts
A charitable remainder trust pays you and/or other designated beneficiaries a fixed percentage of income for your lifetime(s), or for a period of years. At the end of that time, the balance of the trust is transferred to Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School. You can take a charitable deduction for a portion of the gift you make to the trust in the year the trust is formed.
You may donate a life insurance policy and name Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School as the beneficiary. Depending on the arrangement, this may offer current and possible future tax deductions. The gift of life insurance can provide an accessible way for you to provide significant support to Bay Chamber while receiving tax benefits that you can enjoy during your lifetime.
Property or Real Estate
Acceptance of property or real estate is contingent upon an appraisal and discussion with legal counsel.
If you name Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School as the beneficiary of the remainder of your IRAs or other retirement benefit plans, after your lifetime, you may be able to avoid significant taxation for your heirs.
