Bay Chamber Music School, Rockport
The Ukulele Workshop is divided into two one-hour sessions.
1-2PM Beginner 1
In this intensive beginner ukulele workshop, faculty member Jeff Weinberger will cover the basics such as holding the instrument, its parts, strumming, chords, counting, practice habits, etc. The goal is to learn a simple one chord song progressing to a two chord song and followed up by a three chord one. Loaner instruments available upon request. This will be the first in a series of three ukulele workshops over the school year.
2-3PM – Beginner 2
In the second ukulele workshop, Jeff will focus on the continuing beginner aspects of ukulele. Participants will learn a simple scale, go beyond just a few chords, learn songs with more challenging strums and longer forms. Also, the learners will get into the basics of finger-style ukulele. We’ll focus on rhythms that take us beyond basic down and up strums and start looking at ever more exciting and diverse rhythms. It is helpful to already know most of the very basic skills from the first workshop.
