Poetry and tales by Ted Hughes, Thomas Hardy, William Blake and melodies from traditional folk songs are eloquently reimagined in this program of music by British composers. Praised for his keen intelligence, captivating stage presence and natural musicianship, Nicholas Phan performs regularly with the world’s leading orchestras and opera companies. James Austin Smith is an artist of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), the Talea Ensemble and the Poulenc Trio as well as Artistic Director of Tertulia, a chamber music series that takes place in restaurants in New York and San Francisco. Henry Kramer earned top prizes in many international piano competitions including the 2016 Queen Elizabeth Competition in Brussels. His performances have been praised by critics as "triumphant" and "thrilling" (The New York Times), and "technically effortless." (La Presse, Montreal)
