Bach for Breakfast Part 1 - Organ 101

Wednesday, Aug 15, 2018, 10:00am

First Congregational Church, Camden

Our morning series this season offers an introduction to the King of Instruments in five, 55-minute lecture recitals featuring J.S. BACH’s Schübler Chorales and five major works.

The young American musician Christopher Houlihan is widely acknowledged as one of the brightest stars in the new generation of organists, praised by the media as "gifted" (New York Times), "dazzling" (Wall Street Journal), and "eloquent" (Los Angeles Times). Houlihan has established an international reputation for his artistry with performances in celebrated venues in major cities across North America and Europe.

Part 1 of the series offers a brief history of and introduction to the instrument, and an overview of Bach’s major organ works.

Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, BWV 645
Fantasia and Fugue in G Minor, The Great, BWV 542
