African Drumming Workshops

This workshop is a wonderful opportunity to study Djembe with Namory Keita, Master Drummer from the village of Sangbaralla, Guinea, West Africa. Namory is a sought after teacher and performer with a unique style and a wealth of traditional knowledge very rare to find outside the villages of Guinea. His resources include not only his wonderful ability to engage any audience but also his relationships with dancers and drummers locally and around the world.
Namory will lead participants through a variety of rhythms and techniques and his infectious joy for playing and teaching will inspire you. Whether a beginner or a seasoned player, you are sure to have a great learning experience.
This workshop is divided into two sessions. The first hour is meant for beginners and the second hour for more experienced drummers.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own drums if at all possible. For an additional fee, there are extra drums available to use in class if you do not have one.
Pre-registration is required for the workshop. Please make sure to let us know if you’ll be bringing your own drum.
Beginner class: 6-7PM
Experienced Drummers: 7-8PM
Adults: $30 ($20 if you bring your own drum)
Ages 12-25: $10
