Eclectic Jazz on the Green
Eclectic Jazz in the Street
We’re delighted to present a jazz-infused performance of standards and new music featuring two of Maine’s most exciting young musical innovators, with prominent musicians from across the State.
Guitarist Ryan Blotnick has been called "a vital contemporary voice" by Time Out New York and "an authentic, compelling player" by Cadence Magazine. As part of one of the last generations to study with 1960s era masters, Blotnick developed a deep respect for the post-bop and free-jazz traditions, while simultaneously being exposed to current directions in European and American improvisation. His latest release Kush mines a bittersweet melodic/harmonic vein balanced by an African-influenced rhythmic elan.
Drummer, composer and innovator RJ Miller explores the ambient side of electronic music with chilled themes and moody soundscapes as well as being a first rate jazz drummer. "The soul in the machine lies in the way Miller expertly juxtaposes his drum kit with piano, keyboards and analog synthesizers through infectious melodies that move and groove." All About Jazz
Ryan and RJ will be joined by stellar Maine-based jazz musicians – Pat Corrigan - on timpani, vibes, amplified birdcage, toys and junk, and Ross Gallagher on bass.
Bring a chair if you’d like to sit, and join us for these fun, free and musically eclectic performances in Camden and Rockland.
