"An intellectual snob is someone who can listen to the William Tell Overture and not think of The Lone Ranger."

Get up close and personal with the artists! In most places a concert experience begins and ends with what's on stage. Not so at Bay Chamber Concerts.

pre-concertDuring the Summer Music Festival, Artistic Director Thomas Wolf is joined by special musical guests to provide an informative and lively pre-concert discussion prior to Thursday Night concerts. They'll talk about their careers, the music being performed, the composers who wrote them and anything else that comes to mind. And they're always willing to answer a question from the audience.

Wednesday nights: Pre-concert music and art talks are held at 7:00 p.m. at the Farnsworth Art Museum. The Wednesday night talks feature Bay Chamber's Artistic Director Tom Wolf and the Farnsworth Art Museum's Cheif Curator Michael Komanecky and feature wide-ranging topics on music and visual art.

Thursday nights: Pre-concert talks take place in the meeting room of the Rockport Opera House and begin at 7:00 p.m. - one hour prior to the performance. Seating is limited, and many weeks it is standing-room only. Be sure to arrive early to get a seat. Sorry, we do not currently offer Pre-Concert Talks before Wednesday Night or Performing Arts Series concerts.
