Decades ago, Bay Chamber Concerts assisted in establishing the Fox Island Concerts on Vinalhaven and North Haven, islands off Midcoast Maine, as well as Machias Bay Chamber Concerts in a town 30 miles from the Canadian border. Each summer we assist these communities by providing artists for the numerous concerts presented in both locations.
Machias Bay Chamber Concerts
Machias Bay Chamber Concerts was established in 1970 with the help of Bay Chamber Concerts' founders Thomas and Andrew Wolf. The organization's purpose, in addition to presenting summer concerts, is to encourage the appreciation of quality music, support young peoples' studies and performance of music.
The organization provides funds to the local school district annually to bring two or three music programs to the schools or to take students to hear the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. Machias Bay Chamber also presents grants annually to six area high school students who have improved in their music studies during the current year. During their first season the Machias Bay Chamber Concerts presented three concerts; today they offer six concerts in July and August at the Congregational Church in Machias.

Fox Islands Concerts
Established in 1961, Fox Islands Concerts has been hosting concerts on the islands of North Haven and Vinalhaven, located 13 miles off the coast of Rockland. The concerts are held at the new Smith-Hokanson Memorial Hall on Vinalhaven, the North Haven Village Church or Waterman's Community Center at 7:30 p.m. Once known as Fox Islands, Vinalhaven and North Haven today are separate and unique island communities, each a picturesque village boasting all the conveniences of modern living while still maintaining an abundance of natural beauty and New England charm.
The islands are accessible by ferry, morning and afternoon, run by the Maine State Ferry Service from Rockland. Transportation between islands for concerts is provided by Fox Islands Concerts in cooperation with Brown's Boatyard in North Haven. If you plan to come to the island for a concert, you'll need to find a place to stay. Reservations should be made in advance. There are several B&B's on both islands and a motel on Vinalhaven.
