JAY CAMPBELL, cello
JOSHUA ROMAN, cello
Deemed "superheroes of the new music world" (Boston Globe), JACK is "the go-to quartet for contemporary music, tying impeccable musicianship to intellectual ferocity and a take-no-prisoners sense of commitment" (Washington Post). Joshua Roman spent two seasons as principal cellist of the Seattle Symphony, and has appeared as a soloist with the San Francisco Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Mariinsky Orchestra, and New World Symphony, among many others.
This accomplished collaborative ensemble presents a program of thrilling works including Tornado, a new piece for cello quintet by JOSHUA ROMAN. Whether a tornado is literal or metaphorical, it turns things upside down in a moment and leaves us with a confused sense of fear, awe, as well as an appreciation for nature’s beautiful wrath.
