“I was fortunate to grow up among musicians.  My mother, her sister, and her brother were well-known Russian musicians who had a trio in Russia – the Luboshutz trio – that toured throughout the country.  After the revolution, each pursued an independent career and my uncle Pierre Luboshutz, a pianist, formed a duo-piano team with his French wife, Genia Neminoff.  They became world-famous and were the only duo-piano team to appear under conductor Arturo Toscanini.  But among the hundreds of concerts they played that I remember best was one at the Philadelphia Academy of Music when their beloved dog “Vodka,” who travelled with them, came out on stage as they were playing.  It caused quite a sensation and resulted in a standing ovation.  Uncle Pierre and Auntie Genia had much to do with the early success of Bay Chamber Concerts and I am thrilled to dedicate this concert to them since so I heard so many of these pieces played by them.”
