lhistoireCurtis On Tour brings the extraordinary artistry of the world-renowned Curtis Institute of Music to audiences nationwide, with tomorrow's leading musicians performing alongside celebrated alumni and faculty.  The narrated performance will feature Igor Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du Soldat (The Soldier’s Tale).  Musically vivid, touching and humorous, it is based on a Russian folk tale about a soldier who sells his fiddle to the devil and soon regrets it.

Also on the program will be a new song cycle by composer David Ludwig titled From the Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám. Using the thousand-year-old quatrains of the great Persian poet and scholar Omar Khayyám, the songs are written for mezzo-soprano, violin, bass, clarinet, bassoon, cornet, trombone and percussion.
